magnaflow on LR4 - any ground clearance issues?

I'm looking at a solution to tune the sound and increase performance. More interested in a nice, but not horribly loud V8 sound. Looking at the MagnaFlow Land Rover LR4 Street Series Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System I'm worried it may hang down to much below the bumper and limit ground clearance. Does anyone have any experience with this?

They sound cheap in person and rust like crazy. Online they sound really decent though but in person not so much. Your best option is to take the resonator out/muffler or both if you want it really loud. it's cheaper and sounds better than the magnaflows. They both drone though. magnaflows drone just as much as the straight pipes. it should cost you a buck 50 vs 1k for the magnaflow system.

That's my truck. Its pretty loud though i don't think you'd like it. I removed everything but the catalytic converter and put straight pipes with an X pipe. It's sounds very aggressive and pops and crackles when you downshift. For you I'd recommend just removing the muffler and leave everything else. Add an X pipe in the place of the muffler. It will be a very nice growl.

Thanks for the video jlach993! Great sound and I like the look of the exhaust pipes. My mechanic just gave me a quote to purchase/install a Magnaflow exhaust system for $2,300!!! Crazy expensive so I'll explore you idea of just removing or modifying the mufflers..

I have not done this on the LR4 but I have had good luck with removing just the rear-most muffler/mufflers on my previous V8 vehicles, while keeping the resonators, etc. As mentioned, that should run about $200 or so. Minimal drone too, since resonators/etc were not removed, just mufflers themselves. If anyone has done this on the LR4, would love to hear sound clips.

Now if someone could just make an exhaust for the 3.0SC that makes it sound less like a sewing machine....

yeah man worst case scenario if you hate the sound then install back. I'd admit its not for everyone. I'm young and appreciate the noise. As i get older i think ill install the resonator/musfflers back on.

What effect would removing the mid-muffler/resonator and leaving the rear mufflers have? Also, what about mufflers made for the Jag 3.0L to replace our current ones?

Sound bite videos on your computer are way off vs in person. On another note one brand of muffler your liking plus exhaust piping system being different in bends, lengths and diameters throws sound way off. Add to the mix one chosen muffler on the same displacement engine keeping piping equal or close to equal to compare but on different engines like a 350 Chubbie vs 351 Ford as examples will sound totally different before thinking about a 5.0 LR engine vs 302 Mustang engine.

What I wanted being durable, sound and function being free flowing in a 4.9 litre (stroked 4.6 LR in 95 D1 5 speed w/cam and chip still smog legal in Kalifornia's **** control) example vs factory overpriced, too heavy, way too silent I went with a Borla "Cat Back System" in stainless uncorking the little engine pulling a once was 4,600 pound ****. Mellow rumble an enjoyable sound not sounding like a high school junker running Flowmaster rubbish.
A slight drone around 2,300 rpm's in 5th pulling a slight grade which goes silent above or below that rpm range When getting on it the deep growl not stupid loud a sound letting you
and others know your making Hp and not cop bait.
Had a person flag me down in his 94 D1 with a 02 4.0 engine swap and 5 speed thinking he
could kick my **** a no contest thing even if I had a 3,000 pound boat tied to me he went the Borla system like I have getting away from factory rusting out crap wanting stainless and slightly quieter, I suggested Vibrant stainless their perforated tube large oval (not any louvered muffler or resonator design) body resonator called their "silent series" keeping a system all in stainless. I did replace LR's restrictive Cats with Magnaflows being two identical cats vs factory one flat one round having different backpressure flows which is rubbish in my book on engines. At rust and trouble free exhaust system 22 years old and counting with a muffler only system being "lifetime" free replacement by Borla. Purchased back in Feb. 2000 was way cheaper than the insane 2021 prices. I bet if it were a steel vs stainless system with a lot of local stop and go driving I would of replaced exhaust systems several times by now hence more than paid for itself going Borla. No connection with Borla just a happy camper dealing with the dad Mr. Borla not his punk kid, that I had first hand contact with not being plesant until one day dad answered the phone and problem solved ASAP!.

I hung around a friends muffler shop visiting weekly and had the option of picking up several brands of mufflers in steel and stainless, different diameters and body lengths run a short time now considered used I installed playing around on the pickup costing me nothing just my time, Mig wire and gas at home looking for flow number one then sound second on my list making a complete custom system with Spintech mufflers behind the 496 cu/in pickup. Ceramic coated inside and out on headers including the 33 degree four piece "X" cross. Exhaust systems tuned to engines not just noise....~~=o&o>......

Quick update. I look the 2011 LR4 V8 to a muffler shop recommended by my RangRover repair guy. They recommended to start my sound tuning exercise by removing the main resonator, but leaving the muffler and rear per-tail pipe small resonators in place. For $78 US I had them cut it out - quick, cheap an easy. My son rates the sound as a 7 out of 10. He said it's a bit raw sounding, but it does give the crackle and pop when downshifting in sport mode. It's loud, but not horrible loud at low RPMs. I don't notice any horribly annoying drone at freeway speeds either. It definitely not as nice sounding as my RR Sport V8 supercharged with the Dynamic Package. That car sounds amazing. Louder and cleaner, but no crackle/pop ever.

Just some thoughts. The muffler guy said to try it our for a few months and come back if you don't like the sound. Seems like exhaust tuning is a bit of an art. (or they just want more $$ to cut and weld things under my car)

Cutout the main resonator, replace with 2 straight pipes. Old resonator ready for the scrap heap...
