What happens if you repaired it already because you were not aware of the recall? Do they refund the repair cost?

I'm not sure if they would, but I would sure fight for it. You would probably have the best chance if it was done by the dealership vs. an indy.

They should reimburse for the repair. There is a law requiring reimbursement for repairs made within a certain time frame. I don’t know off-hand what the law specifies as the beginning of that time frame (something like the start of NHTSA’s investigation, or 1-year before recall notice, or something like that), but I think most companies are not going to press you too much that part of it. I think they will be more strict on the end date of the period, which is something like 10 days after the last recall notice is mailed (they don’t want to reimburse based on total cost after they‘ve arranged to have their own dealers fix the problem). I’d start by calling that LR customer service number on the recall notice and, if they give you a hard time, the NHTSA might be able to give you some direction.

Unfortunately, I'm guessing the chances of that are probably somewhere between slim and none. Apparently 'repaired' before the recall as it just happened/happening (may not be official yet until notices go out from JLR?), and if "you" means DIY, then maybe for the cost of the part or what they determine to be "the cost". Maybe not even that without a 'Class Action' against them. I'd give it a try though...and don't hesitate to stamp your feet in the middle your local dealer's showroom. This should have been addressed long ago...they've been aware of it...(gas leaking that is!!)

Update: This from a 8/19 Consumer Reports article posted on here by @Michael Conley : "Land Rover says that owners who have already paid to have this defect repaired will be covered by the Land Rover reimbursement plan." So there's hope!

Hmm. My 2011 is at my indy right now because I sprung a fuel leak this past weekend. Kinda hope it is the flange so I can get it covered! Going to forward him this info. Thanks!

Since I had this fuel leak issue last year and paid to have it repaired (indy shop), I called JLR corp to ask if they would reimburse, short answer is that they will. Long answer: when the official Recall notice comes (expected to mail out on Oct 8, 2021) she said take that letter plus the receipt from the repair to my local retailer/dealer, and if the repair was for what is in the repair instructions that will be sent to the dealers, then they will process it and a reimbursement check will be sent to me. Yes, even if the repair was done by an independent LR repair shop (I asked twice). She also mentioned that it is likely that the local dealer will do an inspection of the repair to ensure it was done correctly, and if not, they will re-do the repair consistent with the instructions they will receive.

Same with my 15. But I think I read that the recall hadn’t been posted on the NHTSA website yet. Could/probably am wrong on that. But I smelled gas last week……so it’s serendipitous for me.
