I'm looking for a good place to feed a 12-gauge positive lead through the firewall to feed an accessory outlet I'm adding. Any recommendations on a place where I might be able to do that easily? Preferably something with an existing grommet?

Argh I have this bookmarked somewhere but can’t find it. From what I remember from posts, there’s one maybe behind and above the brake fluid/booster drivers side?

This?

Beginning of the thread includes a recommendation for using the steering column grommet, but by page 2 someone brought up a much better alternative: ac lines.

This second thread (expedition portal) mentions something about a grommet available near break spare battery tray/brake booster

pm me your email address and I'll get a copy of the driving lamp install instructions to you from LR. it tells you where to drill the bulkhead/firewall to make a new ***********. the pdf is too big to upload.

Behind the start stop battery tray, right below the master cylinder. There is a bracket that that colored wiring harness feeds through. It was only one bolt. Once removed, you can punch through the grommet and the firewall sound dampening inside the cab with a large screwdriver. I don't remember if I had to remove the battery tray, but it's not too bad if you have to.

Thank you, all. I ended up finding it easiest to go through the main loom entry point behind the fuse box on the passenger side.
I do not recommend this location. Way too easy to damage wiring loom/harness there. The brake booster grommet has nothing running through it and is nowhere near any important wire harnesses.

I can totally understand that perspective. There are a lot of wires already going through there. What I did was use a rounded-off nail, lubed up with some vaseline*, and wedged in on one side...pushing against the grommet, not the wiring. Getting it "started" that way enabled me to push through with some confidence.

*wondering if the censor is going to pick up on the innuendo here.

understood, i just wanted to post that for posterity so that others understand the risk. Those wires are easily damaged and could be a major pain in the **** to fix.
