There’s a nice trail that starts North of Arches and goes into the park. I think it’s Willow Springs Rd but may be wrong. A nice moderate trail, stock clearance is all that’s needed. Not a lot of traffic and great scenery as with anything in the area.

We did Shafer Trail + Potash Road this July in a stock LR4. My 4 suburban kids are 8-14 and they got a kick out of it. The drop-offs made my spouse nervous. Nothing tested the truck too much, but we did ride most of the unimproved sections in off-road height.

This preview shows much of the trail, so you can get a sense of what it offers.

The biggest debate for me is which direction to go. From our perspective the Shafer Canyon switchbacks were a highlight. We encountered at least one vehicle coming right up after heading down. The rest of the trail got a bit long by the time we finished, but I'd still do it that direction again.

We did Chicken Corners with our kids this spring. Our LR4 is largely stock, only has about 1” lift with the gap tool and running on BFG 32”. We did the entire trail which took about 4hrs. One kid loved it, the other (the less adventurous) not so much. It was our first trek, and brought some recovery gear and extra food/water just in case. All in all, it was a lot of fun and absolutely recommend it.

My wife and kids would probably freak out doing Hurrah Pass to get to Chicken Corner, but it is a nice easy/moderate set of trails. That area is nice too because you can camp around the wind caves off the catacomb spur. And the camping spot just before the actual chicken corner by those cliffs is a great spot. I'll admit I don't care a lot for shelf roads or heights either, but nothing on those trails is off camper or sketchy at all, so it is very manageable even with a healthy fear of shelf roads.
