So since my 2013 bit the dust, I am shopping for another one but looking to supplement it with an extended warranty this time, to prevent future unpleasantries with engines seizing, etc. What are the best options out there for a 2012-2013, assuming I can even get coverage for something that old? I do my own maintenance so something that would cover catastrophic failures(such as an engine seizing, etc) would be plenty. Having never had a warranty before, sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks in advance!

I was able to get an aftermarket (dealer) warranty through a nationwide used car dealer under the Auto Nation banner. The purchase was just last month in November 2021 for a 2011 LR4 HSE LUX with 5.0 V8.
We have not used the service, however, we were able to extend the factory-like warranty for 24 months/24,000 miles whichever comes first. The deductible is $200 for each visit to service.

I will post more detail when I get home regarding the name.

Thanks. Looking for something similar, mainly to protect myself against a massive failure. Finding it hard to leave the LR4, despite the engine seizing - it really has grown on me and there is nothing out there that is comparable. If you could post how much you paid for the warranty, that'd be great.

Seized up. Not sure why or how. Zero warnings beforehand. Looks like catastrophic coolant loss, because expansion tank is empty.

I just read your thread. Yes the LR4 has a bad system in that if it looses it's coolant there are no warnings. No overheat and engine is a paperweight. You may be better sourcing an engine, rebuilding and putting in your vehicle rather than getting a new vehicle. Depends on the condition of your current ride..

I thought about that but from what I've seen, engine swaps on this thing are very expensive since the body has to come off. Used engines are 5-6k, then the labor to swap it. Thinking I might be better off buying another one and then selling this one as is.

Maybe. But devil you know vs getting into a new used one. Again it comes down to condition of your current one.

A new creampuff 2012-2013 is going to be? $20k ? + warranty close to $25 k. You may get $2-3 k for your current one? $22k all in net.

A used engine $8k, do the chains and all new bits while out $2k. Labour $5k. $15k all in. + warranty = $20k.

Actually I am starting to lean this way as well. Simply because the rest of the truck is in great shape and I put a lot of effort into personalizing it the way I want. So I'm exploring that option now. Part of me wants to get a rebuilt motor too. Thanks for the input.

Yeah, with an engine swap you can totally go through the engine and get it tip top before it gets installed. With a used LR4, you can wind up with Henrietta Hairdresser's old ride, who went 25k miles between oil changes.
