Considering an LR4. Would you buy one at 100k mileage?

Whether you buy at 100k or 70k or even 40k miles at this point, history and prior maintenance is key. Look for one with a lot of records of maintenance.

I'd have no problem buying one at 100k plus miles. Heck, mine has 110k miles and I'd certainly buy it right now.
i have one at 98k 50 i put on myself. other than brake pads ive had no real issues although im getting ready to spend 1700 on new valve cover gaskets. i have had mine since 2015 i bought it used with 40 k on it from lr dealer.

Hi all I bought my LR$ when it was 3 years old so it will be 12 in march and currently 109 K on the clock and find it is the best vehicle I have ever driven let alone owned. The only probs I have had have been due to poor workmanship at the LR distributors therefore I use an independant who specialises on Land Rovers and a lot cheaper. Currently I am having to wait 4 weeks before they can have it in to replace the heater matrix with a price of £900 including VAT. I have the 3 Litre V6 and can't get any oil in the engine between the 12 month services and have chatted to others with the same non oil consumption.

Hope that helps

161k on my 2011 LR4, runs like a top. Again, maintenance records are key. And remember, if you get the V8, that's a Ford Mustang 302 motor. Taken care of, it's a 250k engine. Just did a 3600 mile trip in 34 hours round trip, almost non stop. 18.5 mpg, 65 mph, snow, ice, slush, rain, dogs and cats living together. Truck ran like it was new.

Congrats on your well running engine. The AJV8 found in the LR4 was manufactured by Ford but it is not a Ford Mustang 302 (I assume you are talking about the Coyote 5.0L and not the 302 in my grandfathers LTD? :))? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_AJ-V8_engine

Hey…I had the 302 in my ‘85 mustang when I was in high school….I ain’t no grandpa yet sonnyboy. But I am still amazed at how much horsepower they get now. That 302 only had like 175 hp.

I have a '13 with 119k miles, dealer service records from when I bought it, if either of you are interested. Down sized and no room in garage.

I just purchased a LUX 2012 LR4 with 80k miles and it is really clean (was $20k October 2021). The newer one I almost splurged on was $40k but it had about 20k miles on it. Bottom line: yes you can get a high mileage LR4 but you need to do your homework and invest in a pre-purchase inspection to sort the high tickets items.

In addition to good records/clean CarFax you should inquire to see if the following has been attended to/is in good working order as these are notorious issues with older LR4s:

- timing chain
- head gaskets
- air suspension

I'd always recommend getting it inspected from a LR specialist mechanic (if not buying from a reputable dealer). Specialist LR mechanics -- independent or dealership -- will let you know what to anticipate and what you are getting into well ahead of time. It will also provide you with some negotiating room in the event they find a few things that need replacing. For the $200-$300, it is certainly worth the investment as a pre-purchase inspection.

From what I've read, the V8s around the year of mine -- 2012 -- are a bit more reliable. Plus the added power is really nice.

Another piece of advice: try to find one that was loved by one or two owners tops. This should be available from the CarFax, which is, by the way, actually a nice way to research cars (in the US at least).

Hello from Europe)))

I just received my "new" 2013 LR4 Lux with 139k mi purchased on Copart (happy it's not salvage title! Of cource has some scrathes but price is amaizing compared with EU)

Unfortunately there in EU no gasoline LR4 with v8 or v6, almost all is diesel exclude RR with v8 SC).

So car was checked in local indie LR service and they said that almost all in good condition! Also they do oil service and replace spark plugs.

Also it has some bills but its too old, 2015-2018. My local LR dealer cant check service history in US, only EU (they that said).
So its possible to check history by myself?
