Has anyone ever had an LR4 engine die when going into reverse? I have a 2011 LR and tonight as I was pulling Into my garage, I shifted into reverse to check my clearance and the engine died. I had a check engine and battery code come on. I hit the start button and fired right back up with no codes. This was a cold start, hasn’t been started since Friday the 25th and my driveway is slopped pretty good. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if something that I need to be concerned about? Thank you in advance.

Deff your alt crapped out on you buddy? I had weird issues like that a week prior to complete failure where the alt was dead and the truck drained the battery completely.

You know I was beginning to wonder about that. The truck will start up weird sometimes especially after been driving for a while and it’s usually the second or third start for the day. I replaced the battery last year but will definitely start sourcing an alternator.

Sometimes after being turned off for a short time when the engine is warm (like when fueling up), my truck will stumble and die. its normal after that. I just think its the truck trying to fit in and act like the older Rovers.

Do the “mirror hack” screen on your infotainment system and check your battery voltage when running.

In the event the screen menu options are foreign to you. Just go to vehicle signals and it gives you battery voltage. It beats opening the hood and hooking a tool up to it. Should see something between 13.5-14.6. Anything lower means the alt is crap.
