Hello, I recently had my sunroof "break down", where was driving down the hwy and it just opened on its own, letting several inches of snow fall into the cabin I might add. The sunroof would not close after, would not make any noise or attempt to move, it was basically dead. I was so hoping that the common 30-60 sec reset trick I read about would be the answer, but alas not for me it wasn't. So out of immediate necessity I next "hotwired" the sunroof from the battery, bypassing the control module, and thankfully since the motor wasn't dead it worked. So I figure it's the control module that's gone bad. Could anyone advise on how to correctly remove the control module? It seems tucked back into the ceiling a bit and it's not very straighfwd how to remove. Thanks!

Can you please tell me how you "hotwired" the motor? I was able to open my sunroof, but now no power whatsoever, so I can hear a cli k each time I press any button, but nothing else.

OMG, that was over 5 years ago. Sorry I don't have a vivid memory of the project. I think I "hotwired" based on something else I read on here (or possibly another forum). Basically just exposed as much of the control module & wiring as possible, and then literally jumpered 12V from the battery to the sunroof motor to get it to close. Then as a permanent fix I replaced the control module, which unfortunately I don't remember any physical details of how it comes out or goes back in. Sorry for the lack of detail, but I didn't want to ignore your questions. I'm sure you will figure it out though. It's worth it. I still have my LR3. Just replaced the EAS compressor and driver window control module. 189k miles and going strong.

Thank you so much for responding quickly to my request. I know it has been a long long time since your post. So, I'm guessing that you ground one side and put 12v on either side to rotate the motor either CW or CCW.

Well it appears the module is easier to get to than previously thought, see attached files. However, yet another system on the LR3 that is more complicated than I could have imagined. I pray my sunroof continues... Oops, Roof Opening Panel... continues to function without issue...

You are "The MAN!" This is exactly what I needed. I can't thank you enough. Should be a snap to fix this baby now.
