Greetings every one. New to this forum - first time poster.
I am here with request for info or advice. What is the issue: I got about 1 mo. ago a new Disco 5 (MY22). It is a P360 HSE. Good thing ( I thought ) it was on the dealer lot, and we have purchased it right away as the price was ok(ish) and had must of what I wanted. However, here ends the nice part of the story. In less than 20 miles we heard a noise like an electric motor / drill coming from the front / under. Doesn't took a lot to figure it out that it was not a natural engine sound. 2 hrs later got back to the dealership and the car is there since. Problem ? only the transfer case ... which came with no oil in it !!! Ok, I said ... is bad for a new car, but is warranty. Here is the part where the surprises start. In the entire US there isn't a drop of Castrol fluid for this specific transfer case - different from 2021 model apparently. Dealer was super super nice, and tried to accommodate us however they could do best. They got the fluid finally in the US, 2 weeks later ( that is LR expedited time ), only to find out that in fact the entire transfer case is toast. At this time there is no transfer case spare in the US, nor could they find one in EU... So right now, we have no ETA for a simple repair. I wonder if a new model would be involved in an accident, probably parts would not be available for a long.... long time. Has any one experienced issues with parts for MY '22 on Disco 5 ?
I am not here to bash LR. We bought this car because we like it, and we have a D110 as well. However, I am kinda shocked that such a brand and expensive model, doesn't have spares in the US....
Any info or suggestions are appreciated.

Heilig Scheiße! There's no excuse for Land Rover USA not getting your new '22 Disco fixed and back on the road immediately! The dealer should pull out all stops to make that happen. If they can't, then they should immediately credit you the full selling price and exchange the Disco for another new vehicle of your choice from their inventory.

You are right... and they have really been nice so far. However the next batch of cars they may get it will be in November ... 0 new cars on the lot. It is unprecedented. I am hearing other customers ( while at the dealership ) that common components like "modules" ...a.k.a. other computers are not available. ETA ? no one knows. And this is not a dealer issue. This is bad bad planning of JLR. However there is some benefit of the doubt, that the pandemic contributed to this. However, not taking care of customers, JLR may lose more than they think ... I for one, I am at the point that when I see the car fixed, I will probably sell it. Don't want to ! but if something else fails, then I am really toast. I may go back to some less exotic where the parts ( like transfer cases ) are available in US. So far this is getting frustrating and also worrisome.

Glad to hear the dealer is at least trying to resolve the matter. Did they offer you a loaner? A little more specificity regarding your location might be of interest to some forum members.

Yes, the dealer was extremely great ! and yes, I have a good loaner, but ... is not my car... Disclosure: I bought this for the wife, and it broke down in less than 2 hrs. I am now on TV dinner till the car is fixed - LOL
I am in TX. Dallas area. Don't want to mention the dealer here, even though they were fantastic - really !
My beef is with JLR - typical socialist centralized planning ! Great (NOT).

Isn’t that a problem with all brands now? There are computer chip supply problems and since *everything* on a new car needs a chip or two, stuff isn’t available.

Dealer wasn't great. This should have been caught on the PDI no? A major problem with newish rovers. Parts availability. Imagine if you were in the middle of nowhere.

Well, its been an interesting week for my 2020 Disco, also P360. Started making a bit of a racket on teh way home from work, so I parked it at home and had AAA drop it to the dealers. Apparently it needs a new engine... 25K miles. No cause yet. An internet search came up with issues in UK with the diesel engine, but no such thing with the p360.
