I could be wrong, but I don't believe any 5.0 LR4's sold in the US came OE with a Supercharger... (title of your message)
You’re exactly right, and in truth, NONE of the LR4’s or D4’s whatever you want to call them did. That’s what makes this project so challenging and so much fun at the same time!! Which is exactly why I wanted to do this swap!! Thus far one person has already done it, one is halfway, and I’ll be there shortly! (There may be more, but they are the only ones I know of)

Because, is more horsepower really a bad thing?

Tapps33, good luck with your swap would definitely love to see a write up on it. I actually found a engine from car-part for $1500 poorly running of course, they say it needs head gaskets but as long as the bottom end is good I should be in the clear. Even a used crankshaft is $1500 alone so this definitely seems like the best route.

I am going to start a new write up on the build and cross platform integration as soon as I get it back from the machine shop!

Sounds like you got a great deal on a used engine! I think I paid $3500 for my SC engine that had a “slight knock.” Which turned out to be a spun #2 cyl bearing….with #1 not far behind it. Thankfully I had a whole bag of extra parts, including a crankshaft as the one in the engine I got was toast. Now I’m just waiting to find out if the 1&2 cyl’s can be honed back into spec without needing any oversized pistons.

Good luck on the refit!
