Hello, I am looking for some guidance on picking out the right wheel and tire setup for my LR4. I have looked and found a small handful of for-sure fits like the TuffAnt Pilbara and the wheels offered on Lucky8 but, I wanted to see what anyone else has run and been successful with. I found a set of Black Rhino Arsenal wheels that will fit in theory (they are 18x8 5x120, 5.68 backspacing, 30mm offset) and a set of tires but in all honesty, I don't know much about off-road wheels and tires. My LR already has a 2.5 lift and I just have some AT tires on the stock wheels which isn't phenomenal. I would really appreciate some guidance on wheels, tires, and spacers if needed. If the wheels I mentioned could work I would love some tire recommendations been looking between 32-33 because from what I have seen and read 35 seems a bit much and tend to cause clearance issues. Thanks

I had a hard time finding decent 19" tire options. Going to either 18" or 20" opens up so many more possibilities, but 18" gives you more sidewall for off-roading. We ultimately went with AlphaEquipt 18" for 2 reasons: 1) I looked the look better than other brands you already mentioned. 2) From my personal experience over the years, from many different cars/trucks, selecting a wheel with factory bore diameter (to match the hub) is important for road manners -- AlphaEquipt also checked that box.

I really prefer the looks of these. Were you able to mount and run them without issue or did you need spacers or to do any modifications? Also what tire did you choose? I’m looking for a tire that would be a good cross between crawling and good for mud.

Thanks, I think the Alphas are the best-looking 18" I've seen. I run BFG TA KO2 in LT275/65R18 with about 1" lift on the air suspension from the Gap IID Tool. No spacers, but I did have to cut the frame horns to clear the tires, and trimmed the calipers ever so slightly to fit the 18" wheels (could almost call it a sanding). I went with the BFG for a decent balance of road manners and dry dirt off-roading, but I'm sure something more aggressive would be better for mud. Originally, I didn't want to have to cut the frame horns, but I drove on 31" with stock 19" rims for about a year, and I was constantly obsessing over having something larger. So I eventually bit the bullet and the did the mod and I haven't looked back since.

Right on. I’ve got the 2.5 lift right now and if I were to get a set of alphas I think maybe getting a small spacer might do well for my application because I would really like to try and run at least 32s. The terrain that I am around the most is generally mud and rock so having something with some good bite is kind of a necessity.

I put in the SYA kit just in case, and I'm running the Compomotive wheels with 275/70R18 Cooper mud terrains, a little over 33" but narrow at about 11". I trimmed the frame horn, and also some plastic up front before replacing that plastic altogether with a winch bumper. As I understand it, anything over about 32" diameter you'll end up having to do some modifications if you plan to let the wheels stuff themselves up into the wheel wells.

The D4 is SOOO good at most things you can throw at it nobody needs to cut, grind, lift,, fit spacers or any major mods.
Don't spoil a great vehicle!!
By far the best option is to leave as much alone as possible & simply fit the best 18" wheels you can buy. That's the U.K. made Compomotive. They are about the most expensive wheel option, but are the strongest, best-made wheel
available in my opinion. No mods are required to fit them with BFG A/T KO2's in 265/60 X 18's . If you go up one size to 265/65 you cannot fit a fully-inflated spare in the standard mount & some D4's experience some rubbing.
I've found the 265/60 is brilliant on rocky, rutted tracks with excellent sidewall protection even when aired-down. I've not
been in a situation yet where I wished I'd gone for the slightly taller sidewall on the "65".
The KO 2's in my opinion are the best available A/T for our flinty, rocky tracks in central Australia like The Flinders Ranges, which are infamous for sidewall punctures & can be hundreds of kms from getting a tire replaced. They are much more popular here than Cooper's & any of the Asian brands.
I've driven around Moab , but not in a D4. But with what I've seen there I reckon I'd go for KO 2's if I lived there.
