2015 Lux: Received "Charging System Fault" on console with RED Battery display the other day when wife started her LR4. Being that it has 93K, I went ahead and ordered/installed a new Denso Alt from FCP Euro (LT Warr). After install and restarting, console is still displaying same fault. VM shows 13.8 volts at battery while engine running, battery showing 12.5 after sitting for a couple of hours, also confirmed the charging system is working as I drove it about an hour or so to see if fault would reset.

Does the BMS need to be reset due to the fact that battery was disconnected during the Alt install, or could the BMS be defective?

If you have the gap iid tool, do a battery reset. Also, check the codes.

You can also let them know you're a member - I did and they gave me a bit of a discount. Also, their site said free shipping, but the shopping cart didn't show that, so I shot them an email, and they sorted both the discount and the shipping for me.

A friend came over with a Snap-On tool that was able to reset battery. There were no Alt/Charging/Battery codes. Still receiving error. Alt and Battery pass all Test. Alt is charging at 13.8, and Battery remains at 12.6 after sitting for 2 days disconnected. I am wondering if I have a computer issue with the computer not able to see/communicate with the Alt via the Field Wire, or maybe new Alternator Field Wire port is bad

So I ran external wire from Alternator Field Terminal to GWM, and was able to clear Alternator/Battery DTC within the GWM, and dashboard faults cleared as well. After codes were cleared my values are as follows:

1) Alt direct output at Field Wire Terminal, no connection to GWM: 12.5V
2) Alt output at Field Wire when connected to GWM: 8V
3) Real Time Alternator Field Current from GWM Diagnostics: 2.74V

After all the troubleshooting looks like I have a wire issue between GWM C2531L-4 and C2725L-16, as I'm getting a lot of resistance (43ohms). Guessing it's the C2242L-15/C2244L-15 connector. Not easy to get to as it's on the FW behind the Glovebox.
