Traxide Dual Battery Install = AWESOME

Thanks Tim! The Kit 5 + additional Anderson plug are awesome! You owe me some user manuals though  . . . Thanks again!!! tb

Folks - happy to answer your questions as a new Traxide customer. Disco 4 (LR4) SDV6 Diesel with Optima battery and Traxide Kit-5 http://www.traxide.com.au/D3_4_Index/D4_Kit5.html.

Electronic Brake Controller to be installed tomorrow + Johnson Rods this weekend + Cooper Zeon LTZ in 285/50R20 next week. Saving up for: snorkel (genuine LR looks the best - but pricey) + Longranger 104L auxiliary tank + Kaymar rear bar / tyre carrier [overpriced ? ? ?]

Thanks for the detailed info in your post. Been thinking about adding the extra battery to power a Dometic fridge/freezer while going camping. I initially thought that the power from the 12v was on constantly as my ac plug lights up when plugged in and stays lit, but found out otherwise once hooking up the new fridge.
When the car was turned off, the fridge shut down. Why does the the ac plug remain lit 24/7??
And anyone out there know of a good shop in the Phoenix area that does this type of install? (Overlander builds?)

There's a relay you can pull to have the DC power plugs stay powered 24/7. I'm not 100% sure if it gets the back power port though. I can go check my rover later.

If I were you, I'd run a dedicated line from the battery to the rear and use an Anderson PowerPole connector. They're a little involving (Crimp tool necessary) but an awesome connector.

You could also check out the hood mounted solar panels https://www.cascadia4x4.com/collect...-lr3-lr4-vss-system-100-watt-hood-solar-panel

I ended up doing this mod to my buddy’s 2011 LR4. Worked great. I repurposed the horn bracket by flattening the mounting points to marry up with the mounting points of the TCM.

I relocated the horn on the aft-inboard side of the battery box.

Thanks for the insights!!
