not to hijack the thread, but what’s the consensus on the year for these SCV6s where the timing guides/tensioners were an improved version straight from the factory? are 2015s safe or the 2016 is the safest bet?

Model years 2012.5 and up got the new guides (There's a vin range for the 2012s) so anything 2013+ should be on the new design. I would assume all V6s are on the newer design.

I thought that TSB applied to AJV8s only and the SCV6 had its own share of timing chain issues?

I don’t really hear much out of the ordinary, and can’t tell much difference between the noise in the cold-start video vs the original video. Nothing sounds like a timing chain noise to my ears. That really light rattle that comes and goes a little bit (somewhat irregular) could possibly be the supercharger coupler, which are known to go bad and start rattling. You could take the SC belt off and see if that’s the sound you’re concerned about. I expect the loudest ticking noise I hear is probably the HP fuel pumps, which are known to be noisy (there was a TSB on fuel pump noise at one point). The other thing that can cause a ticking (if that‘s the kind of noise you are concerned about) is an exhaust manifold leak.

Have you owned the car long? Is it a new noise that you’re investigating?
I haven't owned it too long, maybe about 6 months now, and it's NURTURED. The rattle has been there since I bought it, and it's always only ever been serviced by reputable Land Rover indy's who only work on these vehicles. I've been reading up on timing chain tensioners and guides lately and came across folks describing a rattle like this and that peaked my "Landy sensors" and I started listening very closely to it and kind of obsessing :)

I'm checking in with my indy next week, to diagnose while I'm doing some other routine stuff. But encouraged to hear from the group that no one seems to find something "alarming." I've been pretty religious about preventative maintenance on this vehicle.

Correct they are on the newer design, but I do believe the tensioners can still go around 90K... but nothing really guide wise or chains unless left and poor OCI's

In that case, I really think its more getting used to the sound of this engine than anything wrong with it. They are noisy buggers. That supercharger is probably rattling a bit. If the coolant crossovers have not been replaced (front and rear), I would have that done and have the supercharger coupler replaced at the same time, since the supercharger needs to come off to do the crossovers.

Over the several years following this and other forums, I’ve seen several people say that the SCV6 still has timing chain issues. However, I’ve never really seen much evidence of a problem. It seems to me that we’d be seeing a lot more stories about SCV6 timing chains by now if there was still any kind of serious issue with the design on the SCV6 engines.

That’s a good shout.

Crossovers (rear and front), waterpump, thermostat, belts etc were all done as soon as I got it. Wish I’d known about the supercharger coupler… but alas, having a blast learning about these vehicles as I go.

Looks like it's going to need a new supercharger coupler—bummed I didn't know about this when I did the rear and front crossovers, but you live and learn. I'll know for my next rover. Anything else recommended to get done while that supercharger is out?
Already completed:
Front + Rear crossovers
Waterpump
Thermostat
Serpentine belt
Drive belt
and few hoses

Anything else I could/should get done while my indy is in there?
