I've really enjoyed this forum for the last 7 years. We parted with our much loved LR4 Lux today. This forum has been so helpful. Our LR4 really had very few issues, but when I needed help, the forum always provided. The last request was the start/stop light. Forum members told me what to do and who to order the little excite battery from in Czech. Worked great.

Best wishes to all of you. Happy trails.

we replaced it with a mach e gt, wife wanted to try an electric vehicle. the lr4 was her DD. loved the LR$ anf unfortunately the new defender missed the mark. exide battery change was cheap an easy. new owner loves the car. I was near mint condition and after a detail the Santorini black looked better than ever.

My rec for anyone with the Santorini black is to have it detailed. I used the harbor freight long throw buffer with a 6" medium and Griots complete compound, then hit is with a very fine 6" with Griots show wax. The metal flake looked crazy good after that.

Sorry to dee you go. Truth be told if a mach e gt can step in as a replacement for the LR4 it really wasn't being used for it's intended purpose and to take that daily fuel mileage hit is tough. Better in the long run to get something that suits your needs.

you are 100% correct, it wasn't. It was classic soccer mom car. It had never even seen a dirt road. We loved it, but my wife wanted more tech and wanted to try an EV. We kept it in the stable for 2 months to see if we'd still use it, but it just sat there collecting dust. Even so, it was hard to let her go after seven years. I'm sure, like many who sell, I'll be saying, "damn, I wish we still had her", but it was $40k just sitting in the garage. She went to a good home and is replacing someone's newer full sized Range Rover because "it wasn't rugged enough!" So, I'm sure she'll see some action under her new caretakers.

My Santorini black LR4 is ceramic coated and it looks amazing. Shines like brand new every time it gets washed. One of the prettiest colors IMO

Black is a pretty color when clean, but I'll never own a black vehicle again because it only looks clean for a day and then it looks full on dirty. If "forever" ownership is in the cards for me, I'm considering having mine wrapped in a different color.

I agree @ryanjl , it looks so good when clean, but the maintenance is killer; all colors have their draw backs. The wrap and PPF technology has come so far that any brand new vehicle I purchased would get one or the other to have amazing paint long into its lifespan

^This! We had our Santorini black Defender ceramic coated when new and it still looks amazing after 30K miles. With it's small windows, the Defender has more painted surface area than the LR4. With ceramic coating, rain actually cleans it rather than makes it look dirty. And after washing you just blow off the excess water with a leaf blower to dry it.
