Refill procedure needs you to be able to work under the truck, while it's level, and running. That's the main reason I had a shop do this for me, I had no place to do this myself.

It's actually less difficult then you think. I actually have a very slight gradient to my driveway and put the fill side uphill to help me out. Remove the little heat shield with two 10mm bolts to give you more room to get up there. Have a solid fluid pump that won't let you down in the moment and gloves with fingers cut off to protect your hand from hot exhaust but allow you to undo and redo the fill bolt.
I thought it was going to be way more dramatic than it was in practice. Prep is everything.

Well apparently someone cut some corners. I was lied to about the following:

completely disassembled, balanced crank, new pistons & rods, machined block

And Because of that, it would build internal pressure and eventually boil the coolant. Happened 3 times so I finally broke down and swapped to a reman engine.

The new engine has about 7500 miles on it and purrs perfectly. I’m averaging 19mpg on the “new” engine.

This process has been insanely expensive but once the truck is essentially all new I’ll drive it for years.
Ouch. That sucks. I had the oil starvation issue on the top end and destroyed a valve and the cylinder this spring. I had a new motor dropped in and couldn't be happier. I'm currently doing the lower control arms and new front air struts. My only concern with a new motor is if I get into an accident that totals my rover, I'm gonna feel pretty dumb after putting a $$$$$$ engine into my $$$ 2011 Land Rover. But there isn't another vehicle out there that I find even remotely interesting.

Posting pics to document the build that’ll be delayed due to the engine expense. Anyway, carrying on I’ve replaced the front air struts. That was rather easy.

I've had it forever, I don't know the brand or even where I got it. Its a plastic pump that looks just like a big hand soap pump that fits onto a quart of fluid and has tubing coming from the top. It is messy switching from one quart to the next but it works. I considered using my Mityvac but I would have had to thoroughly clean the oil out of it.

Old front hubs were toast so I spent a few hours yesterday swapping them for new units with NTN bearings.

Not a bad job, only took 2.5 hours per side.

I will say for anyone who comes across this post and is contemplating paying a shop: DIY! No special tools are needed besides the 21mm 12pt socket and BIG axle nut socket.

I needed my trusty impact to remove the axle nut.

Banging on the axle shaft & smacking the tar out of the hub was nerve wracking but oddly therapeutic lol.

Follow Atlantic British’ video posted on YouTube as a process guide.
