The shifter being stuck in "D" is a good indication the TCM is bad.
Towing the vehicle 4 down, probably set all the driveline DTCs.

Agree that towing the vehicle 4 down probably triggered the driveline DTCs because the various computers were not expecting to receive messages that there was wheel rotation while the motor was not running, transmission not running, etc

What is the technical reason behind suggesting "The shifter being stuck in "D" is a good indication the TCM is bad."?

My current thinking is that the PCB for the shift control module has failed in a way that is preventing power from actuating the shift lock solenoid. I'd love to test this but it appears that the shift control module operates off of CAN BUS messages; I don't have a way to read those messages. If this was simply a circuit sending voltage to a couple of pinouts that activate the shift lock solenoid then I'd be able to test.

There are internal motors within the module that go bad. Not allowing the rotary knob to return to park.
