After replacing my front and rear crossover pipes at end of 2020 right before my factory warranty was up (fully covered by landrover btw) the front has failed again and leaked coolant, I got lucky(I guess) as it happened when the truck was parked. My warranty company is denying the claim because in their opinion the crossover pipes are hoses, which are excluded as anything listed in the Trucks manual as part of the routine maintenance is excluded. I don't have the manual since the truck is at the shop, but do any of you wise sages here know if replacement of the crossover pipes are part of the routine maintenance of the vehicle per the manual? The warranty company has been very reasonable to date on other repairs, but this one caught me by surprise since a) I didn't expect a cross over pipe replacement to be in the manual as part of routine service and B) the definition of a hose is something that is flexible vs. this these solid plastic pipes.

Thanks

I suppose it's debatable whether the crossover pipe is a wear item. Obviously, the OE Land Rover warranty doesn't think it is. It's not really a "hose," obviously.

I'd ask the warranty company to send you the documents/materials they are using to support their denial of your claim, along with the clause in your warranty contract that they allege gives them an out.

In the meantime, maybe call a few independent Rover mechanics and see how much they'd charge you for the job. I know mine does it so often they keep a few crossover pipes on hand. You may find their cost (plus the cost of a tow I guess) makes it not worth your time to fight. But who knows.

By the way, how many miles have you put on it since it was done in 2020?

Thanks for the suggestion. Only put about 5,000 miles on it since the replacement and the truck only has about 40,000 miles total. The dealer that did the replacement said they only warranty work for 12 months and it was just bad luck. About 1,500 - $2,000 to just replace front and rear at indys. Can't even get an appointment for months at an actual dealer even if I wanted to.

Chances of both front and rear cross over pipes leaking after the repair, is slim to none. Just replace the actual part that is leaking.

Only 5K miles since they were replaced? Which dealer did the work?

I am guessing they used the new style front pipe? Odd it's leaking unless they pinched an o-ring, or other improper installation. Who did the diagnosis and specifically what and where exactly has failed? Is it actually the pipe? Bleed Screw? O-Ring area?
