Does your date move to european format in its own?

Sometimes batteries are defective. Just because it's new, doesn't mean it good. How was it tested?
Voltage off?
Voltage on?
Voltage during cranking?

Some more diagnosis on your end is needed.

But a quick Google search leads me to many threads with no answer regarding random day/time resets, with no ill long term effects. So maybe nothing to worry?

Not sure about the op, but my battery is not new. I tested the voltage with a voltmeter after resting a day or two, kept 12.6v with engine off. Voltage on is about 14.2. I did not measure volts when cranking, but yesterday I had an autoparts store test it with their tester, which required starting the car with the tester attached. Checked out.

Could be a loose connection at the terminals or grounds. These things don’t like unexpected fluctuations. I agree that it’s voltage related. Battery checks out, charging checks out, I’d go to grounds or battery connections. I have had bad battery or bad connections cause date/time to do funny things as well. To me it’s always first sign of an electrical gremlin.

My date doesn’t change like that, but my time will randomly change to 24hr format; happened again the other day, happens maybe twice a year

Mine does this all the time(about 1x a month). The date goes to european(dd/mm/yyyy) and the time reverts back to 24hr. The battery is a year old, as is the alternator so it's not that. Thinking it might be a bad ground somewhere.
