Hi all, just want to be proactive and find an alternate indy to service chain soon. Current indy quoted me $8500 and I would like a second opinion for my 2010. Thanks in advance!

A second opinion on whether it needs to be done or the price? If they are replacing chain and tensioners then price seems a little high but not too far off. For tensioners only then it is too high. On a 2010 I would start to look at the vehicle itself. Is it in very good shape? How is the corrosion? The suspension system? Plowing $8500 into a vehicle that is less than pristine can become a tough decision.

Agree with ktm525 - It's crazy what some Indy shops are charging for timing chain services these days. I get it, it's a labor intensive job and the parts are expensive but I don't think these should cost anymore than 5k using the OEM LR updated components.

Perhaps others can chime in with experiences with other Indy shops around your area, might even be worth making a trip elsewhere if it'll cost you half that price

shop out in Brooklyn said 3k, but thats with my own parts.
That's quite a bit cheaper! Do you know if that also covered the lower timing chain/guide? That one is not replaceable with the engine in, maybe that's why those others places are charging that much - keeping in mind there are no documented issues with the bottom timing chain/guide, I think a lot of individuals opt to not replace them.

I'll have to look at my parts cost but I believe the OEM updated parts cost me just south of $1000... $4k all in would seem like a more appropriate amount.
