Hi,
2010 V8 105k miles.
A couple of times over the past 6 months you go to start it and there's a click and nothing else. Repeat starting a few times and all okay.
Has now happened several times over past 24hrs. This morning also turned over for a fraction of a second, before faltering and then started normally all in one 2-3sec sequence.
CEL came on 3days ago. Have not had time to check to see if related. (Has had recurring non-related CEL re. Possible O2 sensor for 12 months). Battery light on during starting issue, but not sure if that is normal I.e. just showing its working before going out during the ignition on starting process. Battery replaced 3yrs ago.
Thoughts?

Does it do it mostly on the first start of the day? Might be with checking voltage at the battery terminals while someone else starts it. I would suspect the battery at first glance. Second in line would be the starter solenoid.

My research suggests starter solenoid starting to fail, so a new starter is needed. No issue with battery not charging (I.e. battery or alternator issue). Sound about right?

Yes, after car parked overnight.
Just back from 1,000 mile road trip with no issues. What would healthy voltage at battery terminals be during cranking?

I had to deal with an issue where there was a single click and nothing else when pressing the Start/Stop button every once in a while. Does your brakes go stiff?

Think it did go stiff after a couple of presses, but then no power steering with engine off, so probably normal?

My issue was that I was 1/2 quart low on transmission fluid. I added the missing transmission fluid and had to recalibrate the transfer case with the IIDTool. In the middle of the recalibration, it requires you to start the truck. If it doesn't start the truck on the first try, you need to restart the calibration.

Once mine was calibrated, it starts normally with ease.

Ideally you'd check the voltage at the battery posts before turning the car on first thing in the morning. The iidtool will tell you what the computers see, which is a good data point, and comparing to a measurement directly at the battery posts will tell you if you're having resistance at the battery terminals that lead to a drop at the computers. It should be about 12.5 or so for a healthy battery.
