I don't see that here in Portland, I think two things work against the v8: age, and uncertainty about timing chains.

I would think as these thing age out that most buyers will be looking for a bush buggy build so the 2 speed transfers will be desirable. Age, mileage and corrosion will eventually make these things expensive paperweights (like old full size Euro sedans). The ace up the sleeve for now is as these things age they have great utility as trail vehicles. Once owner #3 or #4 with limited financial resources comes along they will hit the crusher if some expensive repair materializes. Case in point is that it is becoming harder and harder to find any used LR3s that are in halfway decent condition. The early LR4s are not far behind.

A very similar uncertainty about timing chains exists with the SC v6. Those engines are not immune. That model also has more uncertainty with start/stop, less power and the stupid rotary gear shift.

Great price, well done! Craigslist or similar?
Actually, when I took it in to service, I mentioned that we'd be selling it to the owner. About a month later I got a text from them telling me they found a buyer. Apparently they had a customer with an RR that really wanted a nice, low mileage LR4 Lux. So, I didn't list it at all.

Hey hey hey, I think you meant "stupid rotary gear shift that fails at inconvenient times"

I owned a 1992 Landcruiser that I restored. It was abused and left for farm duty so I purchased for $3,000 and spent a couple of years fixing everything from an engine rebuild to window motors that had failed.

I sold that thing for $15,000 in 2017. They’re now going for $25-30,000 in that condition.

It’s only a matter of time until the LR3/4 market heats up the way 90’s Landcruisers did.

You got a great price. When I was looking a month ago, your vehicle could be had for 28ish.

Don't mean to argue and maybe it is location specific, but NO. Not a low mileage LR4 Lux that is loaded in what was near mint condition on the west coast. Not happening. If you find one, please let me know and I'll buy it and flip it for $10k profit.

Here is an example of prices for these in my hood. https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/7550343342.html

This one has over 90k miles on it. Mine had 65k. And this is not uncommon. You might have been looking at an HSE and not a LUX and maybe the miles/options were different, but I can assure you that you are not getting one like ours for $28k. Also, mine had about 18 months and over 10k miles left on the extended service plan, plus we just did the coolant pipes for preventative maintenance, so that helped out as well.

if you are looking and find a low mileage one in mint at that price, you should jump on it as those deals won't last long. Good luck with your search.
