Look what I found! My first car. Austin Marina (USA).

Memory tells me it was a 1972, but an internet search suggests it could also be a 1973 - any experts out there that can date this??
UPDATE - I found an authoritative website - this model did not exist in 1972, it's a 1973.

It was half metric, half English and every project I completed I had extra parts at the end.
Burned front brakes every 15K miles and I could change those pads out, wheels up to wheels down in less than an hour.
So many idiosyncrasies I could fill a book...

Color was Black Tulip. Essentially black but just a bit of color in the right light.
And when I painted those running boards with black Rustoleum, I could see a color difference.

Sure wish I still had her, and every one of my cars for that matter....

I can’t help you date it but I remember them well as I grew up in the uk . There are usually a handful at British car day in Oakville, Ontario, Canada .They always bring back nostalgic memories when I see them as your post did this morning. Not sure if you are a top gear / Jeremy Clarkson fan but he has featured them on his show but not in a favourable light, usually quite amusing though.

Ahh Clarkson, yes, I think everyone here knows Clarkson!

The Austin was quite a car. Lots of adventures. Lots of hours on the ground...
Even got it up to a massive 78mph once. Down a big hill and peddling for all I was worth !

Ahhhh.......my parents had a '77 model as I recall.cost GBP 2200 (not sure why I remember that,). BL at possibly their worst. Remember the windshield seal leaked. Dealer response was "Madam but they all leak!" Or something similar.
At least they didn't buy an Allegro...........

Same great memories here, I remember my Dad having a few of them; driving to the beach (Burton Bradstock - Dorset) in them, must have been the early seventies as mentioned... Oh sharing that rear bench seat with my sister and fighting all the way; no seatbelts, headrests, car seats... How things have changed.
