One thing has always had me wondering if this was by design or if I need to look at something like a blend motor replacement. When I run the heat, the air temp from the dash vents seems to always go to full hot once warmed up, then after a while (maybe 5-7min of driving) it'll settle down to what seems appropriate to the temp setting on the heat/ac controls.

For example, if I have it set to 70 deg F, it'll come out at what feels like full hot (84 deg F?) once it's warmed up, then will settle back to 70 deg F. I know below certain temps, the front and rear defrosts are on as soon as you start the vehicle. Maybe this is how they are to quickly warm the cabin?

Not that it matters but I have all new cooling system components and coolant, and no air pockets in the system.

Thanks in advance for any inputs on this!

How are you running your HVAC? Full auto? Manual fan speed control with a temperature set? Always hi or low with manual fan speed?

In auto the car will blast near full hot or cold to catch up to the target temperature and then open and close the blend doors to modulate the temperature.

After using a lot of different vehicles with automatic climate control, ours is fantastic.

Year round, disregarding the weather outside I can leave mine between 70-74 and usually never touch anything else.

In the winter time, the car won't blast cold air at you either until your coolant temp comes up.

I've experienced this behavior in both the 2012 and 2016 I've had. Sometimes in winter it seems like when it settles down, it seems to overshoot, leading me to turn the temp up a bit more.

I never run auto. Its manual fan speed at one of the lower settings w/ temp set to 70-74. I'm beginning to wonder if the blend doors are doing something funny to cause this.

I’m noticing this too. When it’s like, 35-45F out I need to set the temp to 74-76 to feel the heat. It’s been warmer the last two days and I have it set to 68-70 now and it’s toasty. It’s going to be…. -5 this weekend so I’ll see how that goes.
