Hello
I had the message “Low battery please start engine”, I tried charging the battery and it didn’t work so I replaced it, the message kept popping up and I thought it was nothing, then I drove to the airport and came back a week later, the car couldn’t turn on and I got the airport support, he came with a booster and the car turned on but the lights are flickering, after a few minutes the lights became steady and I started driving after 10 minutes the car turned off in the middle of the road, I tried jump starting the car again with cables and another car, but it didn’t work, tried another booster and it didn’t work. In the end I ordered a new battery placed it in the car and the car turned on with a check engine light, but nothing about the car battery, and I managed to drive back home.
Any thoughts?

Thank you

Bad alternator is what it sounds like. If you have a multi meter you can check the battery voltage with the engine off and engine running.

A scan tool should also be able to accomplish the same thing.

Hi Lr4Noam, as f1racer328 posted, it is most likely your alternator.

DO NOT drive your LR4 until you get the alternator tested.

And if possible, take the negative ( - ) lead off the cranking battery until you can test the voltages.

You can charge the battery while it is disconnected

With the motor running, at idle, you should have anything from 13.0v to 14.7v.

If the voltage is below that, it is pretty well likely your alternator is knackered.

Again, do not drive your LR4 until it is sorted as it will again just die with out any warning and this could leave you in a VERY dangerous position but it will also destroy your new battery.

Try disconnecting the bms connector on the (-) negative post. Your alternator should put out steadily at 13.8v. Typically replacing the battery requires a battery reset for Land Rovers to relearn the pwm charging profile to properly charge your new battery.

Here's a very detailed (27 minutes worth of info) video related to the battery.

Would you like to buy a 2016 LR4 White Silver Edition? Needs engine replacement.
