Preventative maintenance recommendation for a 9 year old LR4 w/52k miles

Hey all,

Generally I'm feeling the urge to replace the at risk coolant system items, but I have some thoughts given that my vehicle is almost 10 years old yet has just 52k miles on it. Overall the vehicle is driven less than 6k miles a year, almost exclusively on flat paved roads, and garaged whenever parked. The maintenance part of the manual has the "do this at xx miles or xx years, whichever comes first." So if I follow that I'm about due for a very comprehensive maintenance service.

For the coolant system, the dealer replaced the water pump at 9k so that is kinda new. What would you do if this was your vehicle, replace all of these parts of the coolant system or leave the current water pump in there?
- water inlet
- water pump
- front crossover pipe
- rear manifold
- thermostat

Anything else jump out that is concerning to check / replace given the age and miles on this car?

Knowing what I know now, if it were mine, I would change crossovers at 50K. Failure of those can be catastrophic. If you're in there, you might as well replace water pump, thermostat, etc.

I would plan to do transmission fluid at 80K.

If original, your front control arm bushings are also likely on the downhill side of their useful life.

At 50K I would also do t-case and differential fluids if not done previously. Ditto for the brake fluid, and supercharger oil. Also check the super charger snout.

Thanks all for the replies, I did have the front lower control arms replaced at 37k miles.

Looking at those threads now rickyn

Well I got the coolant service work done.

LRO45239 - OEM Throttle Body Heater Hose
12346290 - OEM Dexcool Orange Coolant
LR044990 - OEM Coolant Hose
LR090630 - OEM Coolant outlet flange upper
LR092992 - OEM coolant outlet flange lower
LR097165 - OEM water pump w/2 gaskets
AJ811539 - OEM Water pump o-ring
LR0122710 - OEEM collant flange
LR028136 - OEM water pipe
755-192 - OEM thermostat

Added in the thermostat ($98) while they were in there as labor was included.

Came out to about $800 in parts and $1.2k in labor.

Tech said o-rings were looking rough and would not be surprised if there was some seepage. Over the last 4 years I’ve had to to off my coolant by about 2-3 inches so perhaps that’s where it went.

I also have super minor oil spotting on my driveway. Like really minor as in a few spots every few weeks. The skid plate itself actually looks a bit wetter on the passenger side than the driver side. Usually after a long drive a few drops come down near the passenger side from the skid plate area. Tech said during the repair they cleaned everything up, drove it, and sprayed the usual suspect areas with soap(?) and could not find an oil leak and iterated they are super confident there isn’t a concerning oil leak going on. Makes me feel better but wish I knew the culprit. I plan to remove the skid plate soon and check things out for kicks.

I have a 2012 with 89k. Don’t ignore coolant and or/ oil leaks from the front of the engine. Oil from the passenger valve cover can destroy the alternator.

I barley had any leak, until I removed the two front skid plates and saw this

It’s currently at the shop, having new guides and guide pins installed.

My leak oil was from the drivers side upper timing cover. Will be resealed during chain guide job.

My coolant leak was from a failing water pump and the front crossover. Doing a flush, rear crossover, and thermostat while it’s in. Also re-building the vacuum pump as it may have also been leaking.
