The LR4 had some moderate stains in the rear cargo area and some pretty significant ones on the carpet in the rear passenger footwells. Used Chemical Guys stain Remover, in combination with a Hoover water assisted carpet vacuum. Wow! In combination with some new floor mats, floors looking super clean.

Wow, it is so weird to see the car I just bought (over and over again) on these posts. They must have pushed out a bunch of these black LR4s back in the day. They are sweet looking rides and I am having a lot of fun with mine, but it is remarkable just how identical they all look to me.

Hello everyone. I'm considering my first LR4 purchase on cars and bids but the miles are high. There has been some service performed but I would appreciate some guidance. The sale is coming up in 5 days and I would like to know a reasonable price to bid and what to expect in terms of additional maintenance. Hope this link works > https://carsandbids.com/auctions/9Xj8VGaO/2011-land-rover-lr4-hse here is the listing and below are some of the details. Is this way too many miles on this vehicle?

Hi all, updating this thread with a Ton more work done to the Cars and Bids LR4.

First off, want to recommend an amazing mechanic I found in Southern Pennsylvania. He did a coolant system refresh and the timing chain job for significantly less than dealers, and after two months the vehicle has been rock solid.

Matt Chronister, reach out to him via email at [email protected]

He specializes in JLR and addressed everything needed to make my LR4 reliable. We actually found updated guides (but nothing else) in my 5.0 so he discounted the total bill.

Now let’s talk timing chain and coolant system components at 90,000 miles on a 2012 HSE. For context the car was owned in NJ and PA all its life.

The front Y pipe was on it’s last leg. It came apart when removed. The rear crossover wasn’t as bad but still a good preventative fix.

The vacuum pump and upper timing chain covers both leaked prior to the service. All good now! Running great, I’ve really enjoyed the piece of mind this work provides.

Here’s a summary of the work:

Replace timing chain guides and tensioners with updated OEM parts. Includes front crank seal and synthetic oil change.
Vacuum pump reseal
Rear heater manifold parts and labor
Replace water pump and thermostat
Serpentine belt
Front coolant pipe replacement
Change differential fluid, front and rear
Install transfer case damper
Cleaning and supplies
Replace fan belt idler assembly
Reset battery module

FWIW, At around 80K, I replaced EVERY coolant related part (except Radiator, but I did pull it to clean and replace the seal underneath) in the engine compartment with OE LR in my wife's 2015, as I wanted it perfect. The new upgraded Front Pipe (for the SCV6) is substantially stronger/beefier then the older design, so I will prob do this job again at between 180 and 200k. My coolant pipes were fine, but they did break coming out which is normal. I think I spent around $1500-2000 on parts alone, and doing it myself allowed me to clean everything and inspect. I just completed a Trans service yesterday. Very easy on the 8sp.
