Hi all,
I am the proud new owner of a 2016 LR4. I mentioned to a friend that the speedometer is ‘weird’ and the went down a few rabbit holes to try and figure out why. Other 2016 LR4s have speedometers where the large numbers are 10, 30, 50, 70, 90, 110 and 130. But mine is 15,35,60,85,115 and 140. Anyone know why? Just curious.
Thanks in Advance.

It was from Canada originally! Land Rover laval did all of the prior service and I thought that too but when I googled other LR4s for sale in Quebec, they had more standard numbers on the speedometer. That must be it. Thanks!

Usually, the Canadian versions will have both mph and km/h.
The HVAC controls would also be metric.

That is the weirdest looking speedometer I’ve ever seen on one of these cars. It’s not even the right font. I’m willing to bet that there is more of a story behind that car. I can’t even find an OEM Speedo that looks like that.

It also jumps from increments of 10 twice to 15 to 10 again and so on. It just seems so janky for a factory cluster. Does the car have any accidents or any other imports. Does the vin match the car in detail down to every last option?

Indeed it does look funky.

If you want to check the vin in a few places, you can digitally check on the instrument cluster, the windshield, and the frame (believe its on the side on the passenger side)

I'm sure there's more places with the vin, but that's just a few that I've seen.

Hi everyone. Thanks for all of your feedback and after our investigation we figured out the story. Yes, the LR4 was imported (before me) from Canada. I had a copy of the title from the dealership I bought it from which showed who that company was. We reached out to them, they were super helpful and told us all about the conversion and sent pics of the dash before and after (below) and the info they had to send to the govt for the import. They basically put a sticker on top of the OEM KPH speedo and it’s funky bc it’s how it has to be so the needed shows actual MPH (it’s still really strange - admittedly). When doing the conversions they damaged the leather in the dash (you can see in the pics) and actually offered to fix it even though we didn’t buy the car from them. The mileage checks out in all the records so no ODO roll back. I have had it inspected by my LR garage here who I have used for over 10 years even though I had an PPI inspection done in MI and he said it’s in great shape etc. I also had the cross pipes done by the MI LR dealer before it was delivered to me.

So the real question is do I like it? I have a 2011 RR Sport with >191k miles on it that I have loved since day one. So the LR4 feels SO different. Well see. But I may be selling a gorgeous low mile 2016 LR4 with the heavy duty package in a few months and sourcing a low mile L320. I love the L320.

Cheers!
