Timing Chains INA or Tsubaki how to tell?

As I am getting everything ready for my timing chain install, I realized last night that there are two sections in the shop manual for the 5.0 V8 Petrol Timing Chain replacement. One for INA and the other for TSubaki. After doing a little searching I found this:

There were two types of timing chain systems fitted to the 5.0 v8 engine - Tsubaki, with 6.35mm chain pitch, and INA, with 8.0mm chain pitch. It's important to note that with the different chain pitches, the only thing common between the two are the guides and the tensioners. Everything else - the chains, the VVT units, the sprocket on the end of the crank, the oil pump sprocket, and the auxiliary driveshaft sprocket (which can't be changed) are all the same drive pitch.

How can we tell what Timing Chain we have? Vin number?

This has many plates (more than 11 but hopefully conveys the idea):

Look at a single pin (the silver part in the image above) and then count how many pieces of metal it connects, the pieces of metal are the plates. Here's a better description:

No idea if stats are available, but I'd be curious to know if one or the other has higher failure rates.

I guess you'd need to understand typical failure rates and then extrapolate from there, in bike chains I think the chain stretching causes the majority of issues since this then leads to additional wear on the gears which in turn leads to gear/chain slippage. In the images shown above there's going to be less chance of stretching with the 11 link chain but perhaps there are other issues with this approach, say more friction!

here is another diagram

Not sure if the tsubaki chains ever made it to the 5.0L v8 in the LR4s. All the parts websites never list any other chains for the LR4. I know they were in the 09 Jaguars but I don’t think they made it to the Land Rovers with the 5.0

I’m in agreement with this. Nowhere I’ve ever come across in my search for LR4 timing chain information has a difference ever been mentioned. I think it must have been a Jag-only deal like Jimmy mentioned above.
