When and if my '12 HD bites it, I'll definitely be looking for a '16 HD to mod-swap onto. But the V8 is just soooo nice compared to the SCV6, to me at least.

If my V8 with the HD package ever kicks the bucket I think I’d throw money into it.

My fear is someone rear ending/side swiping me and totaling it out.

It just drives so damn well compared to anything comparable.

Probably eventually going to pickup a Defender, but that’s a ways down the road.

Coincidentally, I can spot three HDs on my local CL as we speak:

I believe that's correct; that HD pack had the two-speed, which is the giveaway when shopping pics. If it has the right hand switch for the transfer case, it's HD with locker and spare. But please correct me if that's wrong. That's how I was shopping them previously based on my understanding of options.

"Full-time four-wheel drive is standard for all LR4s, employing a single-speed transfer case that's more efficient in everyday driving. The LR4's traditional two-speed transfer case, which offers low-range gearing and a locking rear differential, is still available as part of the Heavy Duty option package for those who plan to partake in particularly challenging off-road driving." Go figure you find 3 with the HD package! When I was looking for mine none to be had. Yup you are correct with 2014-16's that the HD included low range, the rear lockers and FS spare.

You are all correct, but just for future reference (and collectable considerations) here are some pic's of the transmission/terrain response controls in my 2016 with the HD package, and the window sticker showing what that option package included and the cost. It was $1,350, but is now worth significantly more thanks to JLR nixing the two speed transfer case for 2014, 15, and the last of the breed, 2016, without the HD pack. The controls are a dependable way of ID'g an HD pack. Without HD the Hi/Lo transfer gearbox control to the right of the ECO button is blank, and the terrain response control above doesn't include the 'rock-crawl' mode and indicator light on the right.
There' is also the full size spare...not sure but that may have been available as a stand alone or dealer installed option though.

Perhaps also interesting/useful when shopping around- the Model designation of mine is 2016 LR4 HSE LUX with the 'Landmark Edition Package' option, basically a LUX with $8,500 of additional options packaged for $2,470. The sticker lists all of the items included. I think the only option not fitted is adaptive cruise control.

Well, after everyone thought JLR was actually killing the LR name a few days ago I thought values would definitely go up!

I find it strange these have shown up on BaT. And I saw it was HD but they do have an error in the listing: “Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, a single-speed transfer case, and an electronically locking center differential.” Probably never shifted the transfer case.

down from what? where were there higher prices? certainly non manheim.

Absolutely they were higher from one year ago through Dec 2022. They have fallen a great deal since then. That 38k vehicle would have been price in the mid to upper 40's a year ago.
