Just got off the phone with my mechanic and he found a pinhole leak. Would like to replace the line but is struggling to source it. He's a great guy and a good mechanic, independent shop owner, but not a LR tech. Anyone know where a guy would source air conditioning line? For the time being, I told him to see if there was a product that could patch the pinhole leak. It's not near any heat source so I was thinking some sort of plumber's tape or cuff or sleeve or something. Maybe something that patches air compressor hoses.

Seems like he has a plan in place for the temporary leak. Will require evacuating the system. Still need the line to be replaced. Any help on sourcing that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian

Is it the rubber hose or aluminum?
Rubber hose, you can cut a section out and splice in a metal tube.

Aluminum.

Update: Just got off the phone and he is going to evacuate the system and try some J-B Weld for the time being. He says it will need to cure overnight and probably into the next day. He'll recharge the system and see if it holds. He sounded a little concerned, but I told him it's fine. He's trying. That's all I can ask. Find out more tomorrow.

By the way, the shop owner is a real success story. He was a shop rat at the trailer fabrication place I worked as a salesman for and worked his way up the ranks to be the head guy. He put up with stuff you can't even believe, and always did it with a smile on his face. He's really talented and hard working. Was building up his own auto repair business on the side while he worked at the fabrication shop and then eventually switched over to being his own boss full-time once it hit critical mass.

Cold air. Yum. Line fixed (for now) and A/C working. Glad it wasn't anything mechanical. That could have gotten real expensive, real fast.

My friend the mechanic is a real good guy. He charged me on the low side of fair. He said that he actually replaced an engine on a Land Rover a few years back (water pump/hose failure). So he isn't totally unfamiliar with them. When I asked him if he would be willing to do more work on mine in the future, given that it is an LR. He said, "Well, you know, it's a car. A lot of things are the same, no matter what kind it is."
