2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

I don’t know the answer. That’s the sequence that was given in the manual.

    Crossover pipe work

Not sure how you’d reach it without removing the supercharger. Maybe if you remove the windshield cowling - maybe disconnect the hood struts and let back on the windshield to get more room? At the very least, the wiring loom behind the supercharger needs to be removed, and that was probably...

And make sure to run both front and rear heaters. there are coolant lines running to the aux heater in the cargo area.

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

I did a manual bleed. its a little more complex than just fill and run. need to get reservoir up about 2 inches so its higher than highest bleed point. posted the procedure here: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/bleeding-coolant-woes-help-needed.43299/#post-230151

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

I did try to clean up the backs of the intake valves some when I was in there. I did not have a walnut blaster, and it’s a real PITA trying to do it with picks and carb cleaner, leaning down over the engine and trying to make sure nothing gets into the cylinder. Not sure how much good I really...

Spark plugs - I haven’t done them yet, but I don’t think you really gain much by having the SC off, so I’d probably leave it unless you know they need to be changed.

Ah - sc coupler. Makes sense. I did that too. Also replaced T-stat (as 16FujiDisco mentioned) and the waterpump.

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

What coupler? The aluminum piece between the two front crossover pieces? The new pipe design doesn’t use a coupler in that spot - just joins directly together. In any case, I’ve already seen reports of these later pipe designs degrading in the same spot. I think I’ll be putting aluminum in...

    Coolant Temp Questions

T-stat on the v6 is different and runs the engine slightly hotter. Can’t remember the temp range.

    Coolant Temp Questions

I can‘t remember which is sensor 1 and which is sensor 2, but one temp sensor is on the cold side of the coolant loop (coolant coming out of the radiator) and the other is on the hot side (coolant leaving the block). The cold side sensor is just below the T-stat, and the hot side is at the back...

    2012 US Spec 5.0 Won’t Start

Glad you are back up and running, but I wonder what caused it to blow. That’s a big fuse (400A).

    2012 US Spec 5.0 Won’t Start

From the screen pic, I’m guessing that you removed the relay and you are jumping the connections to mimic the relay connecting. So it’s the starter solenoid clicking. My understanding is that the relay provides power to the starter solenoid, which drives the pinion gear forward to engage with...

    2012 US Spec 5.0 Won’t Start

Just wanted to clarify - by jumping the relay, do you mean you are bypassing the relay? So, the click is from the starter? Or are you testing the relay removed from the car, so the click is from the relay?

    2012 versus 2015 LR4

At only 5k miles per year, gas mileage is a non-issue. I have the V6 and the mpg is really not any better - especially after you put off road tires on it. But, I don’t feel the V6 is underpowered, and I actually like superchargers. No power lag, and they’re not very complicated and quite easy...

    2012 US Spec 5.0 Won’t Start

Brake switch and starter relay would be the next things I’d check. Maybe ground wire to the starter just to be sure (even though it looks clean).

Compomotive 18” Wheel; Quality Control Issue

I don’t think dawn would do this to wheels, and if it does - they’ve got a problem with their coating. I was kind of wondering if they’ve got a problem with UV sensitivity in the coating. The wheels should certainly be built to withstand plenty of sun, but I have wondered if sun exposure is...

Compomotive 18” Wheel; Quality Control Issue

Whole thread on it here: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/compomotive-pd-1881-finish-delamination.31235/. I bought mine in 2020 and haven’t had a problem yet, but my offroading has been light.

    2012 US Spec 5.0 Won’t Start

Maybe the ground strap or the starter relay. I’d double check the battery first. You should see about 12.6v with the engine off (leave everything off for about 10 minutes, hood open. Then test with multimeter. If you have a multimeter with max/min function, you can leave it hooked up and...

Screeching sound in front of car after first turned off

Two things come to mind. If it is more of a screeching noise, possibly the parking brake (even if your not using it). If it is more of a whining sound, possibly the PCV. My PCV was squealing a bit at shut down - I replaced it and it stopped, now its doing it again periodically. Its kind of a...

Oil in Intake Manifold - Smoke on Startup

Here are some threads on the vacuum pump dumping oil into the intake: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/help-its-smoking.42151/ https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/cloud-of-smoke.41544/page-4 (post 38 is the solution)

Oil in Intake Manifold - Smoke on Startup

One cause for large amounts of oil smoke that has been reported here on the V8 engines is (somewhat surprisingly) a leaking vacuum pump (for the brake assist). Apparently, the oil seal on the vacuum pump (front of the engine near the bottom) starts leaking oil into the pump chamber. The...

Timing Chain Seal replacement? Or something else?

Timing chain covers are known to leak, but sure can’t tell from that video. The timing chain cover is above the alternator. That video shows a lot of oil or grease on the bottom of the alternator and all around the vacuum pump. If anything, the top of the alternator looks cleaner than the...

    2015 TPMS function

I know some of the 18” steel wheels did not have enough room for the original sensors mounted near the rim, which is maybe why they were removed. If you want to remount TPMS on steel wheels and there is not enough room, you can center-mount using steel straps around the inside hub of the wheel.

    2015 TPMS function

In the US, TPMS was standard on all 2015 models according to the brochure - and it does give tire pressure readout. Under the dashboard menu, I think you go into the service submenu, then tire pressure. The tire pressure submenu is only available when the car is in park as I recall (maybe also...
