Ticking sound underneath
Could it be your belt rotating and giving off a ticking sound (rubber belt)? I had the stealer replace mine just before the warrenty/free maintenance ended on my '03 SE-7. They should be replaced before the 4 year period/ 70,000 KM IIRC. Look in your service schedule book. -

Update ... seems it is leaking between the two housings on the Power Steering Pump on the bottom side. Looks like there is a gasket there. Guess I'll have to replace the pump.:frown: -

Synthetic oil
I have been using synthetic oil in most of my vehicles over the past 20 years with no issues. Does not matter switching back or forth .... just that synthetic will protect more so than Dino oil. Synthetic was designed for extreme duty for the Military. So doing a lot of short runs is... -
type of gas you all are using on your disco?
Fill on 93 and when it gets to half tank ... top up with 89 = ~ 90 which the LR recommends. Save a few bucks this way.:hello: -
Installed HID Lights in 03 Disco Low Beams!

on the subject of tires
I got 4 geolanders installed for $912 CDN including taxes (15%) .... No problems so far ... did it 2 1/2 years ago! Great in 95% of the situations to date. Snow tires would be better in severe winter conditions. Other than that, I am happy with them. -
trouble filling up
Try rotating the pump nozzel 90 degrees ... that sometimes helps with certain stations equipment. I have run into this in the past with a few Sunoco & Shell stations with older pumps. -
L.a.t.c.h.
Some (as in Canada) have a clip and bolt that needs to be installed behind the 2nd row seats. The dealers usually leave it in a plastic bag in one of the bins. It needs to be bolted in ... at least that's with my03. -

Folks ... the engine is leaking oil down the passanger side and is spraying the whole bottom of the truck from the front diff to the rear. The efin dealer has been filling up the crankcase with 7 liters of oil at each oil change. The manual shows 5.8 required. Just had my last oil change done... -

The rear I left alone as there was no real issue with it. It still works fine and I have not had a look at it closely. It could be the same as the D1 ... the arm needs to be the same length and fit onto the drive hub(?) spline. -

2003 Discovery II brake job
Do a search on brake jobs as I posted a year back on my issue. The biggest hassel will be the phillips screw that holds the rotors in place. Use some penatrating oil and two ball peen hammers. One you place (round end) against the screw and strike it a few times with the other ... not too... -
