I have a 2011 LR4 HSE with the Jaguar 5.0L engine. I bought it from a private seller, drove it home 3.5 hours with no issues. The moment I get home I let it idle in the drive way and it immediately starts running rough. Restricted performance code pops up. So I shut it off, crank it up and no issues. Shut it off and go to bed. Get up the next day and drive it about a mile or so, it starts to overheat. Cut it off don’t know what’s happening. Look at it some more, replaced thermostat and did not fix it. The top radiator hose is getting really tight and hot but the bottom is staying cool and soft. I did a block test to check for exhaust gases in coolant and it failed the test indicating there were gases in the coolant system. But no smoke coming out the exhaust and no power loss. I’m at a loss and before I start tearing into it to replace head gaskets I’d like to see if anyone has had this issue?? Thank you!

Is it leaking coolant? Does it smell like coolant. Perhaps previous seller plugged up system with stop leak additive?

I can’t find any coolant leaking, but I can smell it. I have thought about maybe the crossover pipe leaking and being unable to see the leak, but I have thought about the additive, I asked the guy and he said no he’s never put a sealer in it…but idk if he is telling the truth or not. I will take his word unless I prove otherwise!
