2012 L322 Range Rover Headlight housing change

Changing the passenger (US) side headlamp. Got into it and it looks like the bumper cover needs to be removed. Can anyone verify this?

2012 RR - Yes - the front bumper cover DOES need to be removed to replace the headlamp assembly.

Nope, not on a 2012 RR 322. The above YouTube is for a different year and different headlight. The 2012 RR 322 has the rounded headlamps next to the grill (but that's not the issue with removing it), the top part of the bumper cover prevents headlamp from sliding out - there is also a lower headlamp bolt that really can only be removed by removing the bumper cover.

It sounds like it can be done without completely removing the bumper cover, but then again, I haven't done it.

It may be possible to change one of the ballast (if we're talking about the aluminum boxes attached to the headlamp) on the headlamp but I needed to replace the entire headlamp housing, not just a bulb/ballast. The headlamp housing will not pass through the opening without removing the bumper cover. And just to clarify, while I removed all the fasteners that hold the bumper cover on and it was ready to drop, I was able to slide it forward (3-4"?) just enough to remove the headlamp assembly.

Headlamp housing can be removed without removing the bumper.

1) Remove front grill - ea clip(4x) press down and release. Then pull entire grill towards you.
2) Headlamp(example Driver side) has two slider clips - Left and Top-right of Housing, lift up to release the housing slowly as there is wiring connector behind.
3) Disconnect Wire connector and complete housing can be removed for easy access to the bulbs.
4) Re-install - reverse the process.
