Found a newer one with the locking rear diff and was thinking of replacing my 2012 with it.

It looks like (compared to 2012)

Updated timing guides / tensioners
Updated Water pump
(possibly) updated crossover pipe ?

Any common failure points to look out for with the facelift ?

2014 intro'd the smaller supercharged engine and 8-speed tranny. You will notice a drop in power and more frequent shifting.

Some discussions have attributed the crossover issue to the V6 although I'm not sold on that correlation.

Ahh, yeah, I knew about the change in motor -- I guess advantage is I can add a supercharger pulley to make up for the altitude here...

I know a LR dealer tech who says they see failures on the sc v6 a lot more than the v8. But I think both have failures, so something to keep an eye on either way. The updated parts for the v6 look a lot better.

Tune and two pulleys for the SC v6 blows away the v8. Mine is around 450-480hp. That’s an upside. Crossovers and water pumps are what they are. Updated crossover part design in 2016 but not sure if they made it on that model year or just became available for replacement.

Hold the phone. 480 BHP? Gonna need to see a dyno... If so impressive if the engine can handle that long term. They don't even get 480 HP out of a 5.0L supercharged do they?

5.0 is 518hp I think. Bone stock. Tuned it is more impressive.

I'll just stick with the 380 hp/ 380 ftlbs that my 5.0 V8 actually has from the factory and not **** around with it so that it actually works and lasts a good long while.

Why you would mod the engines on these vehicles is beyond me. You bought the wrong thing if MaD pOweR anD pERformaNce was your goal.

Still damn impressive. I wouldn't with my money but impressive nonetheless. The V6 seems even more glass jaw than the V8 so I agree in leaving it alone.

Curious what you mean by this? I thought that several common problems with the V8 had been resolved by the time it became the V6 ?
