I have a 2014 LR4 HSE with the HD package. Yesterday on the highway my dash board lit up with several faults (see below) and the suspension lowered. I could still drive okay and when stopped at a rest stop I turned the truck off and started again and everything re-set and was fine. On the return trip the same thing happened and when I stopped it re-set again and no more faults for the rest of the trip. The same thing happened again today.

Dash Fault messages:
- Rear Axle Fault
- Stability control not available
- Emergency brake assist not available
- HDC not available system fault

Along with the fault messages I have a yellow fault triangle on the left side of the message area and a red triangle on the right side.

I read the faults with my GAP tool and they are listed below. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Thank you

Our old LR3 dashboard lit up with the "Christmas tree of death" a few times and I noticed a humming noise coming from the rear diff when I turned off the vehicle. It would reset at the next start-up then occasionally come back.

The dealer said the solenoid that actuates the rear diff was failing. He also said I caught it before it damaged the read diff. So if it's the same thing, you want to fix it soon.

My 2013 RRS did the same but was the CV joint exploding so check your axles as well.

Update: I took my truck into the LR dealer last week. They said the rear diff motor needed to be replaced. Fortunately, it is still under warranty so no cost to me. Everything seems to be working ok now.

Thanks for the comments.

Oh wow, great to hear you got it covered on the warranty.

Do you know how much the cost would have been?

Has anyone else reported a failed diff motor after less than 60K miles?

Good Luck

Sorry but I don't know what the cost would have been. I had a 2006 LR3 for 6 years and over 120k with no issues with the diff motor....
