Hey gang,

Random question - on a 2013 HSE 5.0 with a 2sp transfer case, what type is the center diff? I know on the 2014+ models, if you don't get the HD package(and therefore don't have the 2sp xfer case), you get a Torsen center. But what about the 2010-2013 models? I have been seeing ads listing the center as a Torsen on these, and I know that ain't right. Thanks!

I believe the service manual refers to it as an "electronically controlled multi-plate clutch"

Both the single and two speed transfer cases use a planetary type gear set.

The single speed transfer case has a 40/60 torque split, while the two speed is a 50/50 torque split.

My HD optioned 2012 has an electronically locking center (and rear) diff, but I don't think the non-HD use a center locker so perhaps that's a Torsen.

So the center is a torsen then? HD means rear locker(open otherwise) but I'm curious about the center. I know the front is open.

I believe all 2010-2013 have a center locking differential and the HD package adds an electronically locking rear.

2014-2016, the non-HD has a single-speed transfer case with Torsen differential. HD package adds a 2-speed transfer case with a multi-plate clutch, as well as an electronically locking rear diff.

Wet clutch eLSD center diff with full lockup capability, not a Torsen. Not sure if the single speed is the same, it probably is just minus the low range planetary
