5 spd fluid

what do you guys put in your 5 spd gear boxes for oil. i have been running atf but want to know if ther is some thing or kind that is better. thanks :confused:

Whatever fluid you use, go synthetic and add some Lucas oil additive to it. It will hold up well, shift great and cut the noise level.

thanks mike i have a mobil 1 atf but if there i better i would go with it.

trans fluid

fivespddisco, if ATF had lubrication properties the clutch pack in autos would slip. The 5-speeds feel notchy when shifting with ATF. I found Honda manual transmission fluid thats about the same viscosity as ATF, it makes the trans shift smooth and the syncros work great. It has antifoam, shear and gear protection additives. Is there a trick to getting at your tranny to change fluids?

I just put Redline MTF in my 5 speed LT85. made a big differance in smoothness and quieted it down a bit too.
