96 rover disco backfires mid rpm wierd scaner results

96 disco up firing and backfiring mid rpms. hook up solus ultra scanner and....vss up to 30000mph....air temp -40.....rear o2's 5.0volts.... and other strange things nothing changes when I unplug afore mentioned sensors reading's stay the same runs no better or worse! bad gems? ***???
