A month ago I flushed the heater core as the driver side heating was not good. Then I took it to a shop to have the coolant flushed and replaced and replaced the coolant cap.

Since then no end of issues.

Check engine light came on, drove to autozone and they read the code as the p420. As I started up to head home and think about it, there was coolant everywhere. I got a flatbed to tow me home,

It looked like the leak was coming from the thermostat housing, so replaced that.

Then I think I saw a lot of coolant coming up from the water pump, it looks like it is spraying from the passenger side and going up. So maybe the thermostat housing was okay.

While I had it apart waiting for the pump, I changed the spark plugs (iridium’s capped to 4thou) fired her up and tons of white smoke from the exhaust. So shut her off and came inside,

Not sure what is going on, but there was a lot of oil in the throttle body so cleaned that up and ordered a PCV valve.

As I am this deep I am doing the belts too.

Oh, and looks like the front air distribution block is either clogged or leaking. So need to investigate that.

If anyone has any thoughts, would love to hear them.

I forgot to mention mention all the spark plugs were seized. I dumped a fair amount of PB Blaster in each one and let soak, then worked back and forth gently.

New plugs got anti seize and dielectric grease.

I am just now realizing that the PB blaster is probably why I had all the smoke.

Still, replacing the PCV valve feels like a good idea.

Feels good giving the old girl a refresh. Also have a new rear spoiler light and front cowl to put on to make her feel a bit fresher.

My wife loves this truck and asked me to fix her back up. I am pretty fond of it too.

So a quick update.

The water pump was easy to replace. The bearing was completely shot. balls were falling out of it!
I did the accessory belts at the same time. The hardest part there was the routing of the longer belt.

Installed a new front cowl as the old one was grey and warped. I applied Cerakote to it and while I was there I refreshed all the under hood plastic trim with Cerakote too, that stuff is amazing.

Cleaned the MAF and throttle body

I pulled the headlights and replaced the xenon bulbs with new ones and did the sand and seal on the front lenses, so the lights are back to full brightness.

Cleared all the codes and runs like a champ.

Next up:
New wiper arms and blades all around
Parking aide module
TPMS module
GPS module
Front air suspension valve block
Front diff drain plug replacement (instant lubricant placed messed that up)
Front skid plate is also missing 2 bolts from the front edge. see above I guess
third brake light replacement.

All parts should arrive for the weekend, so if the weather plays nice I hope to make a dent in that list.

This is basically my Christmas gift to my wife - a refreshed Land Rover.

So, looks like all 4 front parking sensors AND the module were bad.

BUT.

For the first time since buying this truck in 2012 the front parking sensors are working!

If you need me, I Will be enjoying a victory beer.

Tomorrow is all the wiper arms/blades, front air suspension valve block and hopefully the third brake light assembly.

TPMS module changed out, so that is now working!

Low coolant warning is not going away so tried to bleed and broke the plastic tee. Ended up ordering new coolant expansion tank and bleeder tee.

Pulled interior A pillar trim to fix those too.

Lots of progress!

Replaced the Nav DVD drive/ computer thing under the drivers seat.

Now the Nav works!!

So just the front right sagging shock to resolve and Eleanor will be back to 100% health!

Coolant expansion tank and bleeder valve replaced.

No error messages and no codes, first time since buying it!

Still need to work out the front right suspension issue.
