UHMW ain't cheap. If you go with the 1/2" plywood you'll probably want to use T-nuts. 1/2" isn't going to have much holding power with a screw.
I used t-nuts and everything is secure. I’ll try and snap a pic of my creation a little later.

Ok so here’s my homemade attempt at a half plate thing. It was going to be a temporary thing but I’ve not fine tuned the box. Anyways. I used t-nuts on the bottom and used longer hex button head screws to bolt the plate through the left side tie-downs. Headed out this weekend for a last-minute overnighter.

Or you can just remove the second row middle seat and it'll fit in there perfectly. I have an Engel MT45 that's strapped there full time and I can grab a cool beverage from the front seat.

My ARB has been in that spot for years. It is literally perfect for that use. Functions nicely as a table/arm rest for rear seat occupants as well. I designed my sleeping platform with a hinged lid that still allows access to it when the platform is in place. Several years on and I would not change a single thing about that mod.

That’s definitely a convenient setup if your use case allows. For our style, we need it in the back given all the in and out. Also seems easier to access maybe then leaning into the middle at camp to fish stuff out for meals etc, but you guys can speak to that. What’s awesome is that these trucks offer so many ways to customize to your preference! That’s a clean setup for sure!
