I can't see how you could. The torx bolt that secures the aux chain tensioner cannot be removed without removing the sump. It's pictured on the right bottom.

And a closeup of mine, me tensioner spring was broken an not keeping any tension on the chain. I build this contraption to keep pressure on the chain. So far so good.

It is possible. The torx bolt will come out. But it is no easy task. Some new curse words will be invented during the removal process. Still beats pulling the engine and removing the oil pan and bed plate.

I was able to loose the bolt but couldn't remove it far enough to get it out. How did you manage to get it out?

It's been a while. But, if I remember, I used a pair of pliers to turn the bolt all the way out until it was tight against the lower cover. Then was able to pry it out with the guide.
Why are you changing the chain?

My tensioner is toast. It appears the spring either broke the area it presses on in the quides failed. The chain seems fine.

I had created a piece of that is keeping pressure on there but knowing know that the bolt can physically be removed maybe one day I'll have to fix it properly.

Cool.
Just put some rags in the oil pan, in case you drop something.

Also, you can shorten the torx bolt a couple mm to make reassembly easier.
You would also need the tool to reset the fuel pump drive timing.
