Black OEM Wheel Finishing

2013 LR4 with the black package. I have the gloss black 19" wheels.

Does anyone know what way the wheels are finished? Are they powder coated or painted?


Mine have seen some sand and a trip through a river where I got pretty stuck and dug my wheels into the sand/rock mix.

I want to get them refinished and get them perfect. I have one little chip in the finish and you can tell it's pretty thick, and seems to be pretty damn durable.

I'm half considering just having a shop strip/powder coat them, but I've never refinished wheels before. Any insights? Thanks!

I believe they are painted, including a clear finish coat.

Not sure where you are located, but here in Houston we have a chain called Tires by Design, they outsource the wheels but earlier this year they re-finished a rim on my 2016, the silver clear coat, and it turned out factory perfect. Only $150 for the work.
