Bluetooth Module on LR4 2011

Hi, thanks for sharing this - I have exactly the same problem.

I was wondering if you could tell me how to get to the Bluetooth unit in the back right? I have a DVD stacker in that region and I’ve had a look around in the area the wheel jack is but can’t see anything that looks like a plug in Bluetooth unit.

Hi Andrew,

The Bluetooth telephone module is located in the right rear section within the cargo / 3rd row seating area beneath the cup holder / trinket tray.

It is in behind the trim where the second row right hand side retracting seat belt roll is located. As you found it can not be accessed or seen from the jack and tools storage, it is closer to the right rear door fixed latch peg. The only telephone Bluetooth module wire accessible from jack storage compartment is the black ground wire which is one of two (in my vehicle) attached to the body grounding stud behind the right rear taillight - which you don’t need to do anything with this wire.

The module is accessible from the second row seating position with the right seat folded down and lifted for rear access. I don’t have the DVD changer in my LR so can’t be 100% sure if it makes things different. I partially removed the trim starting at the tailgate end opting to leave the second row seat belt lower anchor screwed in, just positioning the trim far enough out so I could reach in.

With this trim unclipped at the rear and under the side window I was able to swing the top far enough out so I could access the two torx screws holding the module in. The screws are at the top and there are locating tabs for the bottom.

For testing I was able to reach in from the right rear back door position with the trim only just removed to unplug the device and connect the MOST bypass.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos while I was working on it and will see if I can find a layout image and post it later.

So I'm assuming by bluetooth unit has passed away - hence i'm planning on digging it out and replacing it. It turns out that AH42 10F845 AA has a land rover part number of LR025843. I've rung the local dealer and they want $856 AUD for this. On ebay there a quite a lot of second hand units when searching under this part number but the "engineering number" is different 8H22-10F845-AA and a lot seem to come out of the RR sport circa 2009. The two parts look the same in the pictures - has anyone any thoughts on whether they would be interchangable?

I’m not sure if the parts are the same or interchangeable however I understand the 8H version was fitted to RR.

When I was searching for info I came across a few posts that indicated the RR units sometimes failed due to water leaks onto them so wasn’t interested in giving that a try in case knowing my luck I got another faulty unit.

The price you have been quoted is the same as I paid with my new one being manufactured in 2019 and came with a 12 month warranty. I was able to justify that based upon it being new,a straight swap over and hopefully lasting another 10 years................

I ended going down the brand new path as simply needed the handsfree phone to work again with the system integration.

I did come across a place in south Australia that sold second hand RR and LR that sold these occasionally with all matching numbers for considerably less than the new price - however when I found out I had already ordered and paid for the new one.

Update:
I had to replace the car main battery recently. While it was disconnected everything in the infotainment system reset and now the Bluetooth system works again.

My iphone with ios10 works but when the Samsung galaxy S9 with Android 9 tried to connect, the Bluetooth system in the car stoped responding and I can’t connect the iPhone or see the land rover Bluetooth.

Pulling the fuses 68, 67, and 64 in the passenger compartment fuse box has reset the system (and radio station presets) and I can connect the iPhone via Bluetooth again.

Good tip -- just pulled those 3 fuses and now my bluetooth works again. Thanks!
