Hi! We picked up a ‘16 LR4 last year. Just crossed over 80k miles; it seems to have been very well maintained and doesn’t have any major issues.
We did recently have a coolant leak fixed (coolant outlet at backside of engine, leaking at flange) and a refrigerant leak on the rear AC pipes fixed as well. Brakes felt “squishy” so we had that system flushed and pedal response is much more consistent now. I also replaced the main battery yesterday.

The ECO stopped working and I’ve ordered a replacement aux battery. While I was finding that battery, I realized that there is supposed to be a cover over the aux battery and brake components - would someone with the same setup please tell me what the part number is for that cover piece?

Is the ride supposed to be so bouncy?
Our comparison is coming from a ‘12 Expedition, ‘17 Q60S Red Sport 400, and my R1T. This LR4 feels like it might bounce you out of your seat if you hit the right bumps - and Oklahoma has those kind of bumps. Normally I would think strut replacement, but the ride doesn’t seem to have the multiple bounces that older vehicles had when struts needed to be replaced.

This is my wife’s daily driver; she plans to keep it for the long haul so I’m trying to keep up with maintenance to support another 7-10 years of enjoyment.
Look forward to reading the threads on here - just saw a CarPlay thread that would give me some serious brownie points!

Thanks!

If it has an air suspension it would feel soft. Cushy is how mine feels. Look underneath at the control arms and look for springs. Some people want to convert the air suspension to have springs instead. Even if you have springs, you could fix it with proper shocks that work with proper springs.

This one does have air suspension. I guess cushy is a good word to describe it. The Expedition had air suspension as well, but it was the long wheelbase so that’s probably not a good comparison.

Yeah, a much shorter wheel base will have a rougher ride. But the flip side as you know is its more maneuverable. The only related situation I noticed in mine was the front end seemed to plant down then come back up more when coming to a complete stop more so than my last car that had springs and shocks. Now I don't even notice it, but I've had it since July 2023.

Recently changed tires on my daughters 2016. Changed from Michelin Latitude to Michelin Cross Climate 2.

I cannot over recommend the Cross Climate 2 tires - it’s a totally new vehicle, like driving on a silky smooth magic carpet.

Though the ride is soft, he sticks like glue to the road, or trail. I run Pirelli Scorpion AT3.

Have no interest is swapping out to coil overs.

+1 on the cross climates. the 2011 in the family rides great. It is sure footed and tight but also comfy. I will say new HD lower control arms and alignment made it drive like a new lr4
