Why create a new thread when I can bump an 11yo one!!

We’ve moved to a new house and something is definitely going on with the Lr4 and new garage. After placing cameras around, it’s either a ghost or a ghost in the machine. For the past month, I’ve randomly found the garage door opened at all times of the day or night. I programmed the truck to the new garage when I arrived.

Is it possible that the truck is “leaking” a random garage signal and opening the door? I’m trying to test this theory and want to pull the home link fuse but don’t see a reference for it in the manual. Ideas?

I had a similar problem with our garage door openers, and it ended up being one of the remotes that was just triggering randomly, not the car. Did you reset the openers to clear all programmed remotes? I would try that and only pair the LR4 and see if it persists. I believe the homelink mirror gets powered off after a few minutes, so that even if you open the door it won't work unless you turn the ignition on.

I’d suspect a neighbor’s garage is using the same code. Maybe try re-coding your opener, then reprogram the remotes and car.

I thought that too at first but I have one close neighbor out here and we checked the remotes together and it didn’t trigger my door. It’s a little unsettling knowing it can just open like this especially when headed out of town. So now I keep it unplugged until we can resolve it

Any idea on what kind of garage door opener you have? If it is a Chamberlin brand what color is the learn button?

Like someone else said, you probably want to unpair/reset the garage door opener and re pair all of the remotes.

If you're into any smart home stuff and have a compatible opener, you can get something like a ratgdo and link it to Home Assistant to monitor your door when you're not home. It's what I have on my garage door, and it's great.

https://paulwieland.github.io/ratgdo/ and https://www.home-assistant.io/

I wouldn't recommend this to most people though, unless you're into that sort of thing.

Thanks. So I took that advice and did the reset and it happened again after repairing the truck and the separate remote. So it’s gotta be one of those. I’ll order a new remote and see what happens next!

I installed new garage door openers a few years ago and found out the 2016 LR4 homelink isn’t compatible with the rolling code garage door openers. Chamberlain’s literature said it was compatible, but that was apparently incorrect. They sent me this thing that intercepts the homelink signal and converts it to the old style signal. Pain in the butt, but it seems to work. Not very good range.

I have the same issue on my 2012; I purchased this to resolve the issue:

I wonder if you can get a newer mirror that supports the newer rolling code technology.

I went with this same solution for my 2013 after multiple attempts to pair the Homelink with my Chaimberlain openers. I purchased a mirror from a newer 2015-2016 LR4 to see if it would work, it didn’t.

Thanks for confirming the attempt at a newer mirror! I wonder if others have a nice solution beyond the repeater?
