do you have rust issues with your D1?

I've had my Disco 1 now for about three months, and have noticed a few rust spots on it...one by the alpine light, one down behind a rock slider (small hole, nothing that can't be easily repaired), some surface rust from rock chips, (again not a big deal), but while I had it in today to be touched up in a few spots at a local garage, they called me to go and look at the drivers side door that split at the bottom along the seam. I thought the door was aluminum?? Anywhoo...now I am looking at a $300 bill to fix it, and since there is some warranty left on rust perforation will try to get Land Rover to cover it. Has anyone else experienced this?

rust around the alpine windows apparently is quite common. My '96 suffered this when 4-5 years old. It was fixed OK and never came back.
