I'm not an expert on this but the engines seem to run pretty good when brand new (at least mine did). I doubt they came with a layer of deposits from the factory. Also, relying on deposits/crap lining the throttle body bore doesn't strike me as the best way to seal up air leaks!
I'm also wondering that if there was some air leakage when throttle body is closed (such as at idle) it might help raise the "low idle" rpm issue a few ticks higher. Wishful thinking?
