Hello

After a short and disastrous ownership of a LR4 2015 model, i finally decided it has to go and bought a 2017 D5 with 31k miles on the clock

After inspection everything seems fine, and it has been dealership serviced all its life.

Engine the the 3.0 SCV6, does the 2017 MY still suffer with the issues of the past (coolant crossover pipes + timing chain issues?), and anything I should look out for that Land Rover has conjured up with this new model?

Would appreciate any help in properly maintaining this car

I can't speak for a vehicle out of the USA, but I bought a 2017 D5 about 1.5 years ago with about 32k miles, and it has been a great vehicle. I had a coolant issue within a month or so, and they had to fix as CPO the satellite antenna for the NAV, but otherwise it has been a wonderful vehicle.

Ok so answered myself for the first issue on this rainy day

Front windshield is leaking in the center, water drips from right infront of the rear view mirror onto the console.

Spoke to a glass specialist he advised to replace the entire windshield, but said could do with a bead of 3M windo glue on the top between the windshield and the roof.

Any ideas?

Windshield leaks and cracks are a common issue in the D5 and RR's. There is a D5 FB group that you can check out as well but they seem to be mostly located in the UK. I have my eye on a 2019 TD6 but just can't seem to pull the trigger yet.

Upon inspecting the engine, i am surprised to find that even a 2017 still has the older welded coolant pipes design which will probably fail very soon

I wonder when JLR started installing the newer one piece pipe design in their new cars
